Join us at our fundraiser to celebrate 125 years of passenger services on the Hope Valley Line and learn about the history of Grindleford Station.  Ticket price £5 which includes digital presentation by Ted Hancock (local rail historian), tea / coffee and cake.  Ted will also be selling copies of his new book on the Hope Valley Line.

New Timetables - from 20 May 2018

New timetables will be in operation for services from 20 May 2018.  There will be an increase in the number of trains stopping at Grindleford; in many cases the service will hourly during the working day.

Murder on the Orient Express afternoon tea £15 - Saturday 7 April 2018, 4 - 7.30pm, Sir William Hotel, Grindleford

Join us at 4pm on 7 April 2018 at the Sir William Hotel, Grindleford for an afternoon tea of finger sandwiches, cream scones, patisserie selection and tea or coffee.  After tea, Murder on the Orient Express (2017) will be screened for ticket holders.  

Tickets man be bought, by Thursday 5 April, from the Sir William Hotel or the Grindleford Community Shop.  The Sir William will accept credit card payments and phone bookings.

If you have any special dietary requirements, please contact the Sir William Hotel, 01433 630303, before the end of Thursday 5 April.

Your ticket price includes a contribution to FoGS, to help with our ongoing improvements to the station.


Friends of Grindleford Station AGM - Saturday 10 March 2018

The FoGS AGM will take place from 10am on Saturday 10 March 2018 at the Bishop Pavilion in Grindleford. 

Guest speaker: Chris Morgan, Friends of Dore and Totley Station, on the history of the like and future development plans.

Refreshments will be available.


Strike Action - Saturday 3 March 2018

The RMT has announced further strike action on Saturday 3 March, which will affect Northern Services.

Maintenance Work between Chinley and Sheffield - Sunday 18 March

Maintenance work on the Hope Valley Line will affect East Midlands, Northern and TransPenine Express Trains on Sunday 18 February.  A replacement bus service will operate, instead.  

Please check the National Rail Enquiries journey planner for changes to your journey.


Engineering Work - Sunday 14 January 2018

Engineering work is planned on the Hope Valley Line, between Sheffield and New Mills Central, on Sunday 14 January 2018.  A replacement bus service will be in operation.  See this link for the timetable.


Strike Action - 8, 10 and 12 January 2018

Further strike action is proposed for Monday 8, Wednesday 10 and Friday 12 January 2018, affecting all trains through Grindleford.  Passengers are advised to use local bus services instead.  See the Northern website for further details.


Grindleford Rainbows to Decorate the Station - Monday 27 November 2017

The Grindleford Rainbows will be bringing some welcome Christmas decoration to Grindleford Station from 5:30 to 6:15 pm on Monday 27 November 2017.

FoGS Meeting - Saturday 7 October 2017 at 0930

On Saturday 7 October, the Friends of Grindleford Station will be gathering at 0930 in the Station Café for a meeting. 

After business is concluded, we will head down to Platform 1 to work on the garden.  Some equipment will be provided but please bring gloves and hand tools if you have them.
